The Who, what and where of Outdoor Counselling.

Who:  Outdoor counselling is suitable for most people as it doesn't necessarily require walking.  If you have movement challenges or requirements please let me know on booking so we can work within your constraints.  Outdoor counselling invovles unpredictability (e.g. weather) so a willingness to head outside in a variety of conditions is helpful.  I am happy to work within your comfort for being outside in more extreme / less ideal conditions and together we work out and agree how to manage that and when to move inside.

What:  Outdoor counselling could look like walking along some trails while talking, or like finding a quiet spot in nature to sit or something in between.  Being together outdoors has the added benefit of fresh air and the presence of the natural world which can be calming for the nervous system.  Nature contact has been shown to decrease pulse rate, reduce cortisol levels, improve immune functioning, reduce stress as well as support us to be more connected to the world around us.  Outdoor counselling combines the benefits of nature contact with counselling.  Sessions still go for about an hour but please allow an extra 15 mintues in case it takes us longer to get back from where we have wondered to.

Where: Rachael offers outdoor counselling in North Coburg along the Merri and Edgars creeks.  Outdoor cousnelling sessions can be arranged in other locations and for longer times periods for addtional cost.   Rachael offers Outdoor counselling on Wednesdays, Thursday and Fridays.
